Frequently Asked Outpatient Anesthesia Questions

Have more questions? Reach out to us and we’d be happy to discuss your concerns.

Is outpatient anesthesia safe?

Outpatient anesthesia is safe if administered by professionals. Regional anesthesia can lead to fewer complications. Our anesthesia team is highly skilled, and we closely monitor you throughout your procedure.

What are the side effects of outpatient anesthesia?

You may feel some drowsiness or nausea from outpatient anesthesia. These symptoms should resolve within a few hours after surgery. We will provide you with post-operative instructions to follow.

How should I prepare for a procedure with anesthesia?

Our surgeon will review all requirements with you before surgery. You will likely need to avoid eating and drinking (clear fluids only) beforehand. You may also be asked to temporarily stop certain medications.

How should I dress for surgery?

Wear loose fitting clothing that you find comfortable. Tops should have short sleeves or be loose in order to roll up. If you wear contact lenses, we recommend you wear your glasses to the procedure.

Will I need a ride home after outpatient anesthesia?

Yes. You will require someone to drive you home after your procedure. You should not operate machinery within 24 hours of anesthesia.
