Have more questions? Reach out to us and we’d be happy to discuss your concerns.

What are some symptoms to look out for?

Symptoms to take special notice of include:

  • Abnormal lumps and sores, especially sores that aren’t healing, and lumps in the neck
  • White or red patches of tissue
  • Chronic sore throat
  • Difficulty chewing or swallowing
How will you determine if something is wrong?

In order to diagnose your symptoms, we may perform a biopsy. We will remove tissue from the location (your mouth’s lining or bone underneath), and send the tissue to a labratory to be evaluated. The lab will give us a report, and we will work with you to develop an appropriate treatment plan.

What are the benefits of a biopsy?

A biopsy helps us to determine if you are experiencing an oral pathology like cancer. We use the information from the biopsy to come up with a treatment plan customized to your unique situation. If the oral pathology is caught early, we are more likely to have a positive health outcome.

What kinds of oral pathologies are there?

There are several main categories of oral pathologies. They include:

  • Pain and infection
  • Cancer
  • Cavities and tooth loss
  • Gum disease
