Bone Grafting
Restore Bone Health & Smile Confidence with Expert Bone Grafting
Bone loss in the jaw can occur due to missing teeth, gum disease, injury, or natural aging. Without enough bone, placing dental implants or maintaining your facial structure becomes difficult. That’s where bone grafting comes in.
At Delta Oral Maxillofacial and Implant Surgery, we perform safe, effective bone grafting procedures to rebuild lost bone and create a strong, stable foundation for future dental work. Using advanced techniques and the highest standards of care, we can use bone from your own body, a donor source, or for commonly, a synthetic material to stimulate natural bone regeneration.
Reasons you may need bone grafting include:
- Surgical tooth extractions and inadequate jawbone structure, like receding chin or protruding jaw
- Dental trauma or facial injuries, including congenital facial defects
- Tumors or gum disease
- Chronic TMJ pain

Frequently Asked Bone Grafting Questions
Have more questions? Reach out to us and we’d be happy to discuss your concerns.
Is bone grafting painful?
There can be pain or discomfort associated with bone grafting procedures. We do everything possible to minimize your pain, and you will most likely be prescribed pain medication.
How will bone grafting affect my appearance and speech?
Bone grafting should not affect your speech long-term. Bone grafting should positively affect the appearance of your jawline, as it is restoring structure.
What risks are associated with bone grafting?
Bone grafting is a surgical procedure, and as such comes with risks. These can include blood loss, infection or anesthesia related complications. We always ensure risks are discussed prior to surgery.
How long does it take to heal from bone grafting surgery?
It can take a few weeks for the initial healing process, including the reduction of pain and swelling. During this time we recommend a soft food diet.
It can take up to a year for the complete integration and healing of the graft.
Can I get a bone graft and dental implant at the same time?
Depending on your unique situation, it is possible for us to do a bone graft and a dental implant at the same time. If you have significant bone loss, we may recommend that the bone graft be done first, as the implants need to be stable in the jaw.
